Healthy Cooking and Healthy Eating
Healthy Cooking and Healthy Eating

Cooking and eating healthy foods is one of the most important daily practices in which one can engage on a daily basis. Eating a healthy diet will increase your energy and lower your chance of disease.

"The wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings. Let food be your medicine."

Unfortunately, people have generally forgotten how important eating a healthy diet actually is. Somewhere along the line, we were taught that it is important to eat  things which taste good, or food that can be eaten quickly and produce a full feeling, instead of being taught to enjoy the way eating food makes us feel.

We live in an era where fast food restaurants thrive on the dollar menu, and instead of focusing on quality, people line up Friday nights at chain restaurants preparing inexpensive, calorie laden, nutrient poor food for huge corporate profits.

Other deterrents to eating and preparing healthy foods include perceived cost, the amount of time involved in shopping and preparing healthy foods, and the know-how associated with eating healthy.

In reality, we will show you that these deterrents are simply misconceptions, and that with a little careful planning, and the motivation to break old habits, anyone can cook and eat healthy food on any budget.

Our goal is to show everyday people how to overcome the common deterrents to eating a well rounded, healthy diet. We will show you how to select, cook, eat and enjoy vegetables and minimally processed foods, from which the body can receive the nutrients it needs to function properly. This will increase your energy, and decrease down time due to illness.

Let's examine the holistic approach to eating a healthy diet.Healthy Eating Reduces Disease
The human body is actually changing constantly.
The building blocks of the body, cells, are decaying, dividing, and reproducing on a daily basis. In order for this process to occur properly, the body needs certain nutrients as fuel. If these nutrients are not obtained from outside sources, the body looks internally for these sources.  So nutrients are taken from within the body in order to produce new cells.

What happens when the body is unable to properly grow new cells?  Disease.

This is not a scare tactic. This is a simple fact. There are hundreds of studies which show that eating fruits and vegetables, preferably raw, lowers the risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity.

We believe that the body needs more than just raw fruits and vegetables. The body needs the essential fats and amino acids found in meats, poultry and fish. We believe that the best approach to eating a healthy diet, is to eating a well rounded diet consisting of minimally processed foods, and including good fats while excluding bad fats.
